Corporate Alumni Programs

I study and help companies cultivate positive relationships with their former employees (alumni). As detail in my recent  WSJ article, I take an evidence based approach to building a framework for cultivating this valuable talent pool.

Onboarding

Building a positive culture surrounding alumni relationships starts when new employees are onboarded. Embedding a positive alumni culture into your socialization processes is crucial to the long-term alumni strategy.

Exit Conversations

A pivotal moment in an alumni’s experience is when they have the “quit conversation.” My framework outlines several ways in which this can be a springboard to a thriving relationship—or a horrible experience that ruins hope for continued connection.

Continued Alumni Engagement

Coaching/Incentivizing

After the alumni has left, keeping them engaged is the next step. For this I provide access to vendors that can manage your network as well as give guidance on how to manage alumni networks in-house.

A sound strategy is useless without mid/line-level managers both buying in to and implementing a strategy. I will help train/coach and build out incentives that will align your managerial team to successfully implement your alumni strategy.

Managing Star Employees

Additionally, I speak on a variety of topics related to talent management (e.g., employee engagement/retention). Specifically, how do you recruit, develop , and retain star performers? How do you help star employees perform their best and impact their peers for good? Some of my thoughts appear in a recent WSJ article.
